Lanterns Festival Night by Xin Qi-ji
This night, East Wind bids countless trees flower,
O, it eke blows stars down like a shower.
Adorned carriages’ scent fills the festival grounds,
The sound of flutes afar resounds.
The moon’s bright eye beholds the bustling throng —
Fish-and-dragon-styled lanterns dance all night long.
Damsels don their best bejewelled headwear,
Giggling rings here, fragrance wafts there,
Seeking her, in the throng, in every nook,
In vain till I suddenly turn to look,
O, right there doth she stand
In a dimming spot of bright-lantern-land
