Synelnikove — The dawn of the 1,500th day of full-scale warfare was broken by the cries of a child who had lost his father. Not far from us, in the preceding hours, a violent Russian attack targeting agricultural, commercial, and residential facilities in Synelnykove had already killed a man and wounded a 12-year-old boy and his mother. In nearby Pavlohrad, other Russian drones had damaged more industrial buildings in addition to those already eroded by bombs. Still others had injured two boys, aged 16 and 19, in Zaporizhzhia.
The Russian Federation’s full-scale war in Ukraine enters its 1,500th day, while?Russian losses have simultaneously?surpassed 1.3 million men. Precisely 1,300,030,?according?to the Ukrainian General Staff, a progression consistent with the rate of attrition detected by British intelligence. On average, nearly 867 Russian soldiers are killed or seriously injured every 24 hours, totaling well?over a thousand casualties daily, including Ukrainian losses. This means that, between civilians and soldiers,?the failed special operation launched by Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, has so far claimed more than fifty lives every hour.?
However, in a speech to the nation that night, the Russian leader justified the inevitability of?a blitz designed to last??three days??under the guise of??protecting the Russian-speaking people of Donbas?.
Math clearly show how it (didn’t) end:?
it has destroyed?a life almost every minute, for more than four years.?
Mostly among Russians and Russian-speakers.
In his delirious — and failed — plan to annihilate Ukraine, Putin has so far destroyed 11,830 tanks, 435 aircraft, 350 helicopters, 33 ships, 2 submarines, 39,228 artillery systems, 1,338 air defense systems, 86,773 assault vehicles, and 1,773 Russian MLRS missile launchers.?
These figures show the Ukrainian General Staff’s?statistics?converging with the trend?detected?by independent OSINT analysts like those at Oryx.
Under the pretext of “denazification,”?his regime sent entire brigades of outright Nazis?like Dmitri “Wagner” Utkin (founder?of the Wagner PMC, with “SS” tattooed on his neck), who raped, massacred, and dismembered an uncountable number of civilians. Under the guise of protecting the Russian language and “culture”, he did everything he could to erase the Ukrainian ones, persecuting anyone who didn’t submit to his terror.
When, under Ukrainian fire, Russian soldiers retreated from Izium, we found?mass graves containing the dismembered parts of 449 corpses.?
In nearby Balakliia, there?was?the lifeless body of?a nine-year-old girl, slashed from vagina to mouth and hung?beneath the inscription??we will be back?.
When we entered Trostianets’, after its liberation, we?found?rooms where the Russians were holding Ukrainian civilians, using them as?living blood bags: blood types written on their foreheads and forced to bleed to death. In an adjacent room, there?was?a pool of blood?so deep that the marks could still be seen on the walls even after several coats of lime and paint. The Russian kapos locked the Ukrainian civilians there and shot them blindly, through a closed door.
In Bucha—whose liberation is being celebrated these days—unspeakable atrocities?were committed against Ukrainian civilians of all ages. Many of our closest friends are survivors of that massacre, while others were taken from us forever by the russkiy mir. On April 2, 2022, a colleague from Agence France-Presse?testified?to seeing?at least twenty civilians' bodies with their hands tied, lying in the streets, all shot in the back of the head. Despite this, several Italian journalists had the audacity to?deny?that massacre from afar.
It's impossible to forget all this.
Just a few hours ago, we collected —not only verbal ones— testimonies from those who suffered through the horrors of?mass graves, torture, and mobile crematoria.
Yes, because — as that and other evidence we have collected confirms — the executioners of the rascist regime could not get rid of so many corpses with just bulldozers. From Chernihiv to Mariupol’, where our families still live.
How can we forget them, living in a kill zone ourselves? We simply can’t.
Especially if, after so many days of resistance,?those who argue — from a distance — about the future are the ones fueling other conflicts. They make it coincide with?the scars of a past whose edges will never match?and?a present that plagues our loved ones and us?in Donbas.?
Surrendering it — as the accomplices of Moscow’s bloodthirsty regime desire — would mean sinking more towns like Bukha, Trostianets’, Izium, Balakliia, and Mariupol’ into?a shadow of infamy.
Pretending that the terror we know doesn’t exist, until the regime that exported it grows strong enough to swallow more land and lives.
No,?rewarding aggression with forced annexations cannot be the epilogue of this daily bloodshed.
In 1.500 days of war,?we recorded over 250 videos from ground zero and wrote more than 1,500 articles.
We are doing our best to provide genuine, first-hand reports from zones where almost no press dares to go. This means living constantly in a kill zone. 我们如何能忘记这些？我们自己就生活在一个“杀戮区”之中，根本无法忘记。
尤其是在前线抵抗多日后，依然有人在远处以疏离的视角讨论乌克兰未来的人，正是那些煽动其他冲突的人。他们将冲突与一个永远无法对齐其创伤边缘的过去并为我们及我们所爱的人在顿巴斯造成持续困扰的现在混为一谈。
向莫斯科嗜血政权的同谋者所要求的那样投降，意味着让更多城镇如布查、特罗斯季亚涅茨、伊久姆、巴拉克利亚和马里乌波尔沉入耻辱的阴影。
假装我们亲眼目睹的恐怖不存在，直到输出这种恐怖的政权强大到可以吞噬更多土地与生命。
不，靠强行吞并来奖励侵略，不能成为这日日鲜血的结局。
