The Air Between Us Warms
The air between us warms
and slides down my spine
soft as twilight bleeding into the morning sky
yet sets every inch of me burning
like blue flames that glow and lick slow
I lean closer, lips brushing yours
inhale the hypnotic brew
of your skin at dawn—
rain-soaked earth
My tongue finds the smooth, mellow dew
rolling on your lower lip
then lower still—
sweet, slick, and trembling—
a taste that pinches my breath
Your eyes whisper under my lips
and dissolve me into nothing but longing
Longing leads our skin flushed and slick
and bodies pressed to fuse
into a circuit of pulses and waves
