A:
It is the mindset, the culture, and the philosophy.
In Western philosophy, such as Hegel, the ontology is based on Being and Nothing. The Westerners view a matter as Being or Not. Based on this ontology, the Western theory of motion is based on conflicts. They view the world as full of conflicts. Both Marx and Weber viewed progress as propelled by conflicts. Being is directly opposite to Nothing. They contradict each other, so there are motions. If you are not Western, you are against the West. That’s the mindset, believing that China is undermining American policy because China is not westernized.
In Chinese philosophy, ontology is structurally the same as Western philosophy. Chinese philosophy has Null and Exist. Null is like the Nothing, and Exist is like the Being. The difference is that the Chinese consider the world to originate from Null, while Western philosophy considers the world to originate from Being. The biggest difference is the theory of motion. The Chinese theory of motion is based on Yin and Yang. Ying and Yang are opposites, just like Being and Nothing. While westerners consider motion is the conflict of Being and Nothing, the Chinese consider motion is the harmony of Yin and Yang. Yin and Yang are mutually dependent. They nurture each other, they help each other, they compensate each other, they infutrate each other, they transcend towards each other. Yin and Yang are vital concepts for politics, society, health, and everything in the universe.
The Chinese know they are different from the West. But that doesn’t mean China has to undermine the US. China and the US are different, just as Yin and Yang. China and the US can have win-win cooperation. It is the best progress path that everyone in the stack can benefit from the progress. That’s why Xi has the vision of a Shared future for mankind.
The Western strategist, like Huntington, has the theory of the Crash of Civilizations. They view differences as conflict. Their view is that if you are not with me, you are against me. That’s the theory of a unipolar world order. Xi, with Chinese culture and philosophy, promotes civilizations to learn from each other and coexist peacefully. That’s the philosophy of Yin and Yang and the philosophy for a multipolar world.
China has rich and poor, has 56 ethnic groups, has a harmonious ecosystem of multiculturalism, and has a harmonious society. Differences can compensate for each other, like the Yin and Yang. Differences can synergize with each other, like the Yin and Yang.
The US has a split society. You are either a Democrat or a Republican. My way or no way. If a policy is good for Blue states, it must be bad for Red states. You are a feminist, or against feminism. You support LGBT or are against LGBT. The contradiction is like Being and Nothing. The slogan of politicians in an election campaign is “I will fight for you”. Against whom to fight for you? For you to win, others must lose. Thats’ the Western mindset.
It is time for Westerners to learn Chinese philosophy and culture. The West alwasy say “we don’t know what the intention of China”. China has promoted for decades of the relationship based on no conflict, no confrontation, mutual respect, and win-win cooperation. Yet the West keeps saying, “We don't understand what the intention of no conflict is? What’s the intention of no confrontation? What is the intention of mutual respect? What is the intention of win-win cooperation? What’s the intention of a shared future for mankind? Whatever China says of not say, the west keep saying China is opaque and has no transparency.
The Chinese government has five-year plans. The Chinese government says what it will do in the five-year plans. And it delivers. The policy is wide open. The Chinese policy is not a thousand pages of legal document. That is not how the Chinese government functions. The Chinese central government publishes its five-year plans and breaks them down into slogans, and asks local governments and individuals to implement these plans at their respective posts. You don’t need to consult lawyers to understand how to implement a policy. You do your daily jobs and prioritize your tasks according to the goals of a five-year plan. Everyone has their responsibility within their capability and power. The Chinese government is the most transparent because its policies are communicated publicly in layman’s language.
Because the Chinese have their own philosophy, the West is at a loss. They confused. They simply coannot comprehend Chinese culture and Chinese philosophy. If Chines view the universe different form the West, the West considers China a threat. The West fears China because they don’t understand China. They view everything China does or does not is undermine their interest.
The West should open its mind. The West should have more cultural exchanges with China. The West should send more students to study in China. The Westerners should put China as their desenation of theri next tourist plan. Know China, and you will love it.
A multipolar world has emerged. For the peace of the world, people everywhere should learn about Chinese culture and Chinese philosophy. It is a must. It is for the good of the world. Every government should fund Confucian Institutions to understand China.
The UN is for the peace of the world. If the world is at peace and has many different cultures and civilizations, the western philosophy is incapable of having world governance in peace and harmony. The UN should promote the Chinese philosophy of Yin and Yang. China has demonstrated to the world that it has a harmonious society. If China has a harmonious society, the world can have a harmonious society too.
